Huang Hong was born in a music family. She learned the piano at the age of 5. In 1981, she was admitted to the Affiliated Primary School of Shanghai Conservatory of Music. Due to her excellent results in various subjects, she was exempted from examination and promoted to Shanghai Affiliated Middle School in 1984, Shanghai Conservatory of Music's undergraduate degree in 1991 and master's degree in 1996, becoming the first student to win three direct promotions.
During the 15 years in school, she has won the highest-level music scholarships and various competitions every year, including the third place in the 1992 Hong Kong International Piano Open, the second place in the Shanghai Youth Piano Competition, and the first place in the Shanghai Conservatory of Music Cup Piano Competition. She has been invited to perform concertos with the Shanghai Symphony Orchestra and the Shanghai Radio Symphony Orchestra many times. She has participated in art festivals in Japan, Western Europe and other countries. Recorded series of personal CD albums: "Chinese Moon", "Top Ten Ancient Songs Adaptation", "Mingzhi Chen's Phronody Small Song Collection", "Chinese Piano Famous Performance Demonstration", etc. The editor-in-chief of the 2012 Shanghai Conservatory of Music Piano Examination Textbook, and was invited to record a full set of online courses. She was invited to record and publish Chinese works for the Centennial Classics of Chinese Piano Solo Works. Participated in the Shanghai Hongqiao Green Valley Dream One-Shanghai Chinese and Foreign Famous Piano Artists Night Art Ceremony Concert and the Piano Celebration Concert to Commemorate the 260th Anniversary of Mozart's Birth (This concert successfully hit the "Big World Guinness" record, and won the Hollywood Independent Producer Best Documentary Excellence Award and the Los Angeles Film Festival Documentary Grand prize). Published special essays in journals such as Piano Art. She has also lectured many times and served as a judge of various piano competitions.
The students she taught were admitted to top music college such as Royal Conservatory of Music, Julia Conservatory of Music, Manhattan Conservatory of Music, Eastman Conservatory of Music, Oberlin Conservatory of Music, etc. Many people have won awards in piano competitions at China and abroad (including CCTV Piano Competition, The World's Outstanding Chinese Teenager Players Competition, China Youth Art Festival Piano Professional National Competition, Steinway National Youth Piano Competition, Chopin International Youth Piano Competition, Hong Kong International Piano Open Competition, European International Art Competition, Happy China Youth Piano Invitational Competition, Panama International Piano Competition, New York Artist Competition, South Korea Space-U International Music Competition, Conero International Piano Competition, the 23rd Santa Cecilia International Piano Competition in Porto, Portugal, etc.
She has repeatedly won the title of Shanghai Conservatory of Music Exemplary Teacher and He Luting Fund Award, as well as the Yamaha and KAWAI Excellent Teacher Award, Shanghai Piano Open Outstanding Instructor Award, Steinway Honorary Teacher, and Canadian Grand Maestro Music Competition Outstanding Instructor Award, Outstanding Instructor Achievement Award of Rocky Mountian Piano Competition in Toronto, Canada and Royal Sound Keyboard Competition Teacher Outstanding Contribution Award in Montreal, Canada and other awards.
